The Dedekind Family

The Dedekinds' from Allentown

This story (at least from my perspective) started in Allentown PA a few blocks from the infamous Dorney Park.

It was a busy household of six....Grandpa (Edward), Mom, Dad, Jenny, Chris and Tara.  With a couple of puppies usually thrown into the mix as well. Grandpa loved to garden out back. Mom could be frequently found teaching piano or playing the full sized pipe organ in the basement & Dad would be busy grading papers or reading Peanuts and B.C. comics.  And yes, we had those awful household items like black and white TV (with no remote control) and a big heavy corded rotary phone. Things seemed much simpler back then.

I think all of us (at least the kids) would agree that our favorite dog was Oliver, our St Bernard (you can see some great pics of him in the Photo Gallery). But they were all special...Ludwig, Ashby, Cosmo etc. 

The kids all followed the same progression of schools - Cetronia Elementary, Springhouse Jr High & Parkland High School.  And for many years, everyone would make the trek to St John's Lutheran Church in Bethlehem on Wednesday night and Sunday mornings for choir practice and church.

As things go, the family began to disperse as lives developed and interests grew elsewhere. Chris ended up the farthest away settling in San Francisco.  Tara and her beautiful family reside in Lehighton with Jenny settling down in Penndel. Dad just downsized from Upper Saucon and relocated into a nice cozy space in Emmaus with Phyllis. Mom passed away this year (2016).
